Google Chrome OS to be on millions of PCs

Friday, August 7th, 2009

The recently released Google-based operating system – Chrome OS made a promising start in the industry. Though Google has a lot of struggles in promoting the Chrome OS, they are all optimistic that Chrome OS will be popular to users.

Google Chrome OS came to finalized some marketing strategies including plans of installing the operating system on smaller versions of laptops – the netbooks. This idea is set to be done next year to popularized the newest Google product.

Though Google experienced the gradual slow down of revenues coming from online advertising, Chrome OS is surely a burden to the company if they haven’t got the lead on other aspects of their business. But one thing is for sure, Google is still in the business.

Forming the best strategies to still grab the lead in the market, Google is acquiring other assets where they could directly move forward and gain something. Since it’s harder for them to gain more from the recent released operating system, they would be getting more money from the recently acquired assets including Double-Click, a display-ad company. Google is still forecasting that the revenue will be coming from advertising.

YouTube, one of Google-acquired assets, is also making money that’s the company is still positive that they could still maintain the lead in the market.

The initial strategy of providing Chrome OS to netbooks will surely be a hit in the coming year, making it a popular OS even to millions of PC users.

Though Google and Facebook are competing against internet domination, both signed contracts for their partnership on mobile application.

Facebook, the leading social networking site in the world, is currently available in mobile applications thru iPhone, Blackberry, Windows Mobile and Palm devices. With the release of Google’s Android mobile operating system and Facebook’s more than 50 million subscribers using mobile devices, there’s really a need to tie up to bring both services available to their consumers.

The Facebook Android application will also be available on forthcoming Android-powered phones from T-mobile and Sony Ericsson. The said application is more limited with its iPhone counterpart but will still have all the same services users can get from Facebook. Google’s new Adwords Interface is no longer in Beta

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

Google recently announced that they have removed the ‘Beta’ level on the new AdWords interface. Though there are some who doesn’t like the new interface and would want to have an option of getting the old one, Google confirms that the testing of the new interface which was started back in November 2008 was already done and is confident that the new one works fine.

Google also said that they will be upgrading some advertiser accounts which will be available exclusively on the new interface. This is the result of their continuous expansion of the test made to advertisers during the ‘Beta’ times.

With the new interface, I think Google should still include its old version as an option for those who are more comfortable of using the older one. Let’s see if Google could still integrate their old interface to accommodate these users in the future.

Google’s Protection against Reader’s Privacy

Tuesday, August 4th, 2009

In today’s digital world where everything has its own digital counterpart, it is important that new security rights are being implemented. It is important that as the time passes, there’s also a continuous developments on these rights.

Since more and more people are enjoying reading digitalized books, digital rights group Center for Democracy and Technology joined other groups to push Google on its commitments to build concrete privacy protections for its book programs.

Other groups including Electronic Frontier Foundation are also urging Google to do the necessary actions on their digitalized books. They are also concern with how the people would react on privacy issues where readers should still know that the traditional rights for books are also implemented with the digitalized ones.
Google, on its statement, says that the issues on these policies are premature knowing that they haven’t launched their product.

Google Adwords to add Location Extensions

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

On its recent announcement, Google Adwords said that they will be allowing advertisers to add full addresses through local extensions on their search ads. On this way, advertisers can create new local ads from their existing text ads.

This new service is a good deal since advertisers will no longer need to have local business ads as a different ad unit – a service that is beneficial to the advertisers’ side.

This new service is not yet available for all, though. This will slowly be available in the upcoming weeks. Also, this will be available, on your choice, in the future. You just have to log on to the AdWords, then to the campaign side. Click on Settings. On Audience>Locations section, select ‘Show relevant addresses with your ads.’ To make this possible, a Google Local Business Listing is required.

Google: AppStore is not the future

Wednesday, July 29th, 2009

appstore
Applications on various smartphones and other browser-enabled phones are the latest in mobile technology. This is the primary reason why search engine companies are making steps on how to provide easier and reliable access to their sites to mobile web browsers.

Though as early as now, there are a lot of available applications for use of the available smartphones and browser-enabled phones in the market, there are still quite a number of developments for upgrade and improvements in the available applications.

Google says that although Apple Store is gaining popularity especially to the growing Apple users – from iPods to iPhones – it is still not the future in the mobile technology.

Android, Windows Mobile, Blackberry and other mobile platforms still needs to be upgraded and improved. The future of mobile browsing is in the hands of the developments for the browsers and sites for mobile access. It is still the web, not the AppStore.

Chrome OS post rivalry over Android

Monday, July 27th, 2009

android
Google-based operating systems Chrome OS and Android are being seen to be rivals in most aspects. Though Android was released for mobile application devices, the newer applications intended for Android’s growing popularity to be installed on netbooks and other bigger devices other than mobile phones is setting a threat to the recently launched Chrome OS.

Google is aware of it, of course. Prior to the release of Chrome OS, Google have come to know that there are plans on making Android available to netbooks and other computers. Computer manufacturers have even said in advance that they are supporting Android’s use to their newer versions of computers. Hewlett-Packard (HPQ) and Acer are in discussions for their plans of installing Android on their next models.

However, some of the smartphones and mobile phone manufacturers and developers who have decided to use Android for their products are still in doubt whether Google will still be supporting Android over Chrome. HTC, the first to offer smartphones in Android, and Motorolla, who has been blessed with Android’s introduction to their products in the market, are geared full support with Google’s plans on whether to use Android or Chrome.

Of course there are obvious lapses on the growth and possible developments for Android and Chrome but for now, companies still do stick with the capacity of the two Google-based operating systems – Chrome for PCs and netbooks while Android for mobile phones and smartphones

Twitter vs Google Analytics: The battle for online traffic

fight
In terms of driving traffic to your site, we all know that Google Analytics provides an incredible number of traffic visitors to our sites. We use this as a parameter in getting more visitors by posting related articles that get indexed easily by various search engines.

Though the popularity of Twitter as a social networking tool has also proved to be a good way of promoting our sites and entries, never did it top Google Analytics in terms of traffic. We always rely to Google Analytics with its data of daily traffic list.

But according to some tests, Twitter is far more reliable when it comes to driving more traffic to a certain site. In these tests conducted by researchers and other search engine experts, they all found out that Google Analytics failed in some aspects when it comes to documenting the traffic. It undercounts searches coming from Twitter. Reasons include, according to the tests and was confirmed by Google, that some searches through mobile devices are not detected and was therefore left uncounted for the traffic. This is so because when somebody uses Twitter to visit your site, sometimes, it causes issues with the tracking on Google. More so, the test resulted that Google Analytics failed to count as much 500% of traffic from Twitter. With this percentage, you’ll surely believe that Twitter is a helpful device for promoting your site and driving traffic!
