How to Rank in Bing

There was a huge noise on the internet when Microsoft released its latest search engine that is thought to rival Google’s skill of indexing: Bing. In fact there are lots of reports that Bing can quickly pick up certain websites that Google may ignore. But whatever it may do to the traffic and conversions of a particular website, Bing is another money well that one should discover.

But the first step is, of course, ranking in Bing. How do you do it you ask? Here is how.

Keep it Simple

Some sites may have very complex structures. There are those which have complex designs and scripts. This is not very Bing-friendly. You must keep all HTML simple and easy to pick-up. That will go with links as well. It is always better to keep things static.

Submit to Bing

There is no easier way to get rank in Bing than by simply informing them that your website exists. And since the website is pretty new, pickup is pretty quick. So did you think that there is a complex algorithm you have to follow? Not with Bing.

Allow MSNBot

As with other bots, be sure to have your Robots.txt file allow MSNBot. If not, then you will not be indexed for they cannot crawl your site. Simple as that.

  1. Microsoft Bing would be the closet competitor of Google. but i still use Google because it shows more relevant results on the serp.

Aside from ranking which I seem to be getting substantial traffic from BIng, I find their searching kind of odd.

I have checked close to 100 sites, all sites that are at least 6 years or more old and when you type in

    domainname.com

Only a few are listed. MOst do not even come up in the results, let alone the first one. THis is rather odd that a site would be indexed, yet a person cannot find it in this manner.

THis seems to be a shortcoming of the search engine since I use that feature when I am not sure of the exact spelling of a domain.
