Web 2.0 as the One Millionth Word

It was only on last June 10, 2009 when the Global Language Monitor declared “Web 2.0” as the one millionth word in the English language. While it is a term popularizes by Tim O’Reilly and John Battelle in their conferences, it is now used by mass audiences as a common term.

It triggered lots of noise since the term is pretty much related to social media and the evolution of the internet. I guess it is a way for the Language Monitor to gain some publicity since they will be targeting mass amounts of internet users by the sheer declaration. But just for the record, the word “Noob” is the 999,998th word. But it is not half as great as the word “Web 2.0”
